APRIL 2017 IN UGANDA

The start of an adventure

“They were there dirty, haggard and yet dominating. Of these young men who believe that the world is theirs because they have a gun in their hands.

It was during a report in northern Uganda that I met “my first child soldiers”. The first feeling, despite their violence, was that they had been condemned by adults to become pariahs.

An unbearable reality.

It was at this moment that the idea of creating “Voices without Borders” was born.

Re-enchant moments of life for these battered young people, direct or indirect victims of the civil war which affected their country for 20 years.

For 6 years, with Alsatian choir directors and a Ugandan choir director, 60 young people have been singing together. A human commitment, thanks to a team of volunteers who resonate here and there, well beyond the notes. »

Sophie Rosenzweig
President of VSF

Resilience through singing

Free yourself through singing to rediscover the essential.
Being in your body, in order to know who you are, despite wounds and trauma.
Learn to breathe again to exist differently.

Singing can be a process of self-repair and resilience, as Boris CyrulniK defines it:
“In psychology, resilience is the ability to live, succeed and develop despite adversity”
